Key Management Team
The Senior Management team is headed by the Executive Director, Mr Ooi Chin Khoon, whose profile is disclosed in the Profile of Directors. He is assisted by key senior management staffs who are primarily responsible for the operations of the Group’s core businesses.
Project Director – MRT2
Acting Project Director – Ampang Line
Mr Jonathan Goddard was appointed Deputy Project Director of the Ampang LRT Line Extension project in December 2012 and Project Director of the MRT2 project in September 2016. He has led a team of over 100 direct staff with a workforce of over 1,000 for the Ampang LRT Line Extension project, and is currently responsible for the delivery and completion of the MRT2 Trackworks package. Mr Goddard has over 32 years of experience in commercial and project management in the construction industry, with the last 22 years in rail transportation working for Bombardier’s Southeast Asian operations. His commercial and project management skills were honed from his work in the different sectors of the construction industry, including private practice, general contracting, consulting and turnkey delivery of projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and a Higher National Diploma in Building from London South Bank University.
Director – Commercial & General Construction
Mr Han Yew Kwong was appointed Director – Commercial & General Construction in February 2016. Prior to that, he was the Senior General Manager – Commercial & General Construction of the Company since February 2014. He is responsible for all commercial matters of the Engineering Division, and oversees the construction of hospitals and water infrastructure projects. Mr Han has over 34 years of experience in the areas of property development, project? management and construction cost management. Among the projects he was involved in include The Weld Redevelopment in Jalan Raja Chulan, Country Heights in Kajang, The British High Commission in Jalan Ampang, Labuan Financial Parks in Labuan, Denmark House in Jalan Ampang and Wisma Cycle and Carriage in Jalan Raja Laut. He earned his Diploma in Technology (Building) from Tunku Abdul Rahman College in 1984 and a professional degree in 1986, and became a member of The Chartered Institute of Buildings, UK in 1991.
Director – George Kent International Pte Ltd
Mr Chan Kim Chuan was the General Manager of George Kent International Pte Ltd (“GKI”) before being appointed Director of GKI on 4 August 2017. He manages the export business for the Metering Division and leads the team to expand beyond the many countries that George Kent exports to. Mr Chan has served the Company for over 38 years and has extensive experience in manufacturing management, marketing, sales and engineering. During his tenure, market coverage for the Company’s meters and industrial products grew tremendously in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Eastern Africa and the Pacific Islands, particularly in Indochina, the Philippines, Indonesia and Fiji Island.
General Manager – Meters
Mr Yap Cheng Leung was appointed General Manager – Meters in February 2016. Prior to that, he was the Assistant General Manager of Metering Sales since February 2009. In his current capacity, he is responsible for the manufacturing, marketing and sales of water meters and industrial products for both local and export markets. Mr Yap has over 18 years of experience in the manufacturing, marketing and sales operations for both the local and export sales of George Kent’s metering and non-metering products. He also worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the engineering and construction of a water treatment plant during his tenure with the Company. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick and a Higher National Diploma from Tunku Abdul Rahman College.
General Manager – Finance & Control
Mr Ong Kum Weng was appointed Assistant General Manager – Finance & Control in September 2011. He oversees the Finance & Control function of the Group. Mr Ong has over 30 years of experience in external and internal auditing, risk management and accounting. Prior to joining George Kent, he was the Assistant General Manager of Finance of another public listed company. He is a qualified accountant and holds memberships with the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
